Your body size cannot be equated to the blood you suck; Perhaps all that blood is doing you no good.

By Shem Onderi

Shameless creature, active only at night,
Hovering near the human body to suck blood and cause discomfort.
Night after night, no one can enjoy a peaceful sleep;
Why don’t you enjoy life during the daytime?

Your body size cannot be equated to the blood you suck;
Perhaps all that blood is doing you no good.
When crushed, you give off a terrible smell;
Or is that simply the smell of the blood?

Then you multiply in numbers; which world are you filling?
Your numbers are never useful during elections.
We need your census so the government can plan and budget for you,
And know that you, too, live in my house.

My guests never stay for long; you sense their presence
And literally chase them away with your bad reputation.
Who introduced you to my bed?
There were no requests, no invitations!

It is my blood you suck; go out and work to build your body,
Sweat for your keep, then earn your food.
I need to wipe you out;
Better seek alternative accommodation before I plan to spray,
For the spray may harm my kinsmen.
