Former Sports Principal Secretary Peter Kirimi Kaberia is among ten individuals charged over the alleged misappropriation of Ksh330 million for the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Director of Public Prosecutions confirmed the charges, citing evidence from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, while former FKF president Nick Mwendwa was cleared of wrongdoing.

In a statement, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions confirmed that the charges followed investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
“Upon an independent and thorough evaluation of the evidence, the DPP has determined that sufficient grounds exist to prosecute the suspects and the companies involved,” the communication read.
The individuals named include Amb. Kaberia, alongside senior finance and administration officers from the Ministry of Sports, as well as directors of companies alleged to have benefited from irregular procurement.
The companies to be charged are Auditel Kenya, Taxwise Consulting Limited, Restea Enterprises Limited, Lease Pride Limited, Leasepath Limited, and Liroma Assurance.
They face accusations ranging from abuse of office and unlawful acquisition of public property to financial misconduct and acquisition of proceeds of crime.
“The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions reaffirms its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law, safeguarding public resources, promoting integrity, and ensuring accountability in the management of public affairs.”
The other individuals named are Stephen Njoroge Muthuma (Senior Principal Finance Officer), Harun Chebet Komen (Director of Administration), Enock Ondwari Onditi (Principal Accountant), John Kiende Ruga (Senior Superintendent Engineer), and Marcos Gonzalez Puente (Director, Auditel Kenya).
Others are Samuel Mbaa Njoroge (Director, Taxwise Consulting Limited), Kitheka Muema (Director, Restea Enterprises Limited), Anthony Mwangi Kimanthi (Director, Lease Pride Limited), and Ephraim Kinyua Muchangi (Director, Leasepath Limited).
Notably, Mwendwa, who had also been investigated in connection with the CHAN funds, has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
The companies charged are Auditel Kenya, Taxwise Consulting Limited, Restea Enterprises Limited, Lease Pride Limited, Leasepath Limited, and Liroma Assurance.
