Qatar’s Ambassador to Senegal, Youssef Shaban Ibrahim Al Sada, said the assistance reflected the strong bilateral relations between the two countries and Qatar’s commitment to supporting major international sporting events.
“Qatar and Senegal have a strong and long-standing relationship, and we are pleased to support Senegal’s preparations for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games,” he said.
The ambassador described the event as a historic moment for African sport, saying Qatar was willing to share the experience it gained from hosting major international competitions.
“Sharing the expertise we have gained from hosting major sporting events is among the most valuable contributions we can make,” Al Sada said.
He added that the initiative reflected Qatar’s belief in the power of sport to strengthen cooperation and relations between nations.
The support draws on Qatar’s experience in organising major sporting competitions, particularly the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as well as other international tournaments.
Qatar has in recent years extended similar assistance to countries preparing to host major sporting events, using its experience and resources to support event organisation and strengthen international sporting partnerships.
The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will bring together young athletes from across the world, with Senegal becoming the first African country to host an Olympic event.
