Two-time Basketball Africa League (BAL) champion Souleyman “Solo D” Diabate will headline a basketball development camp in Nairobi targeting players aged 12 to 17.
The second edition of the Solo D Signature Basketball Camp will be held at Parklands Sports Club in two sessions, from November 16 to 20 and November 23 to 27.

Organised by Momentum Sports Africa in partnership with Force One, the programme seeks to equip young players with technical skills, basketball knowledge and the mental preparation required to compete at higher levels.
Participants will train daily from 9am to 3pm, with registration costing Sh17,500 per week. Players can enrol for either session or attend both.
Diabate, a professional basketball player and two-time BAL champion, will lead the programme, bringing his experience in elite competition to the development of aspiring players.
“Talent alone is not enough; young athletes need the right preparation, guidance and support to realise their potential,” the organisers said, outlining the philosophy behind the camp.
Beyond basketball skills
The programme will cover ball handling, shooting, passing, footwork, defensive positioning, game awareness and decision-making.
It will also incorporate sports nutrition and sports psychology sessions to help participants develop healthy performance habits, confidence, resilience and mental focus.
Through mentorship sessions, the young players will learn about discipline, teamwork, consistency and coachability, as well as the commitment required to progress in competitive basketball.
The organisers said the initiative was part of Momentum Sports Africa’s broader efforts to strengthen sports development in Africa through quality coaching, athlete preparation and structured progression pathways.
Talent identification
The Nairobi camp will also serve as a foundation for a wider development programme linking training to upcoming Talent Identification (ID) camps and a subsequent showcase intended to provide exposure for promising players.
The organisers said the approach was designed to ensure young athletes improve their fundamentals and become better prepared for competitive assessments and other opportunities.
However, participation in the camp will not guarantee selection, scholarships, recruitment or placement.
Instead, the programme aims to equip players with the skills, discipline and understanding of professional sporting standards needed to pursue opportunities in basketball.
The Sh17,500 weekly fee covers structured training with international coaches, full-day meals, sports nutrition education, sports psychology sessions and exclusive Solo D camp souvenirs.
Parents and guardians can register their children through the organisers’ online portal at https://events.msa.co.ke/apply?event=solo-d-2.
The camp will run from 9am to 3pm on each training day at Parklands Sports Club in Nairobi.
