Tongeri Industrial Park in Kisii is among eight industrial parks across the country cleared for operationalisation.
Kisii Governor Simba Arati said the park was ranked the best-performing among the eight during a summit held in Nairobi last week.

Speaking in Kisii, Arati said the recognition reflected the progress made by the county government in developing the park and preparing it for operations.
He said residents from Bomachoge Borabu and Bomachoge Chache constituencies would be given first priority in employment once the park becomes operational.
Arati, however, said the county government would ensure that the project benefits residents across Kisii County.
He said one person from each ward would be recruited to work as an agronomist at an avocado factory planned for the industrial park.
Meanwhile, Arati has announced that Kisii will host this year’s World Cleanup Day on September 20.
The governor said Kisii was selected to host the event following international recognition of the county’s environmental conservation efforts.
He said hosting the event would provide an opportunity to showcase Kisii’s efforts to promote a clean and sustainable environment.
