Kenya will host 11 nations at the 2026 Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens Championship scheduled for November 7 and 8 at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

The tournament will see the teams compete for the continental title, with a place in the HSBC SVNS 3 also at stake.

Hosts Kenya will face Burkina Faso, Ghana, Madagascar, Mauritius, Rwanda, South Africa, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe in the two-day competition.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports said hosting the championship was part of Kenya’s ambition to position itself as a leading destination for major sporting events while creating opportunities to grow women’s rugby.

The Kenya Lionesses head into the competition on the back of a successful Safari Sevens campaign, where they beat Uganda 22–5 in the final to retain their title.

They will now be seeking to translate that form into a continental triumph on home soil and secure a return to the HSBC SVNS 3.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry urged Kenyans to turn out in large numbers to support the national team.

“I urge Kenyans to turn out in large numbers at the RFUEA Grounds and give our Lionesses the backing they deserve,” the statement said.

The Government also welcomed the participating teams and their supporters to Nairobi, inviting visitors to experience Kenya’s hospitality beyond the rugby field.

Tickets for the championship are available through Tikohub.com.

The tournament comes days after the Rising Lionesses made history by winning rugby sevens gold at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, becoming the first African nation to achieve the feat at either the Olympic Games or Youth Olympic Games.
