The body of Riokindo High School Form Three student, Joseph Onyancha, has been retrieved from Nyakwana Waterfall in Kisii Central Sub-County.
He was suspected to have drowned while swimming with three colleagues a day earlier.

Onyancha’s body was recovered on Thursday by the County Disaster Management and Rescue Services and taken to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) mortuary.
According to information gathered at the scene, the student had reportedly been sent home from school over fees.
He is said to have been in the company of three colleagues when they went swimming at Nyakwana Waterfall.
The teenager reportedly dived from a cliff into the water but did not resurface, prompting a search and rescue operation.
Speaking to the media at the scene, Onyancha’s grandmother and guardian, Truphena Onyancha, called for speedy investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Truphena questioned how the student, whom she had taken to school, ended up at Nyakwana Waterfall, several kilometers from the school.
She urged the relevant authorities to establish what happened from the time the student left school until he arrived at the waterfall.
The incident has renewed concerns over the safety of young people around waterfalls and other potentially dangerous water bodies, particularly during school breaks and periods when students are away from school.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident as the family awaits answers on the events that led to the student’s death.
