A disease surveillance report from Habaswein indicates that the patient was found to have severe anaemia, with a haemoglobin level of 4g/dL, at a private health facility.

The patient was transported directly from JKIA by a relative to a Nairobi hospital, where he was isolated after presenting with symptoms associated with viral haemorrhagic fever.
