The second edition of the Meru University Mt. Kenya Run is set to take place this Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) Marimba Campus.
The 2026 edition will feature seven race categories, providing an opportunity for participants across different age groups and fitness levels to take part in the event.

The 14km race will headline the competition and is expected to attract elite male and female runners seeking to conquer the challenging course.
Registration for the race is set at KSh2,500, with the winner taking home KSh200,000, while the second- and third-placed finishers will receive KSh150,000 and KSh100,000, respectively.
The 8km race will feature senior, masters athletes aged 50 years and above, students and under-20 categories.
Registration is also KSh2,500, with the top three finishers set to receive KSh40,000, KSh30,000 and KSh20,000, respectively.
The event will also feature an 8km Corporate Run, with registration for a team of five costing KSh100,000.
The 8km CEO Challenge will cost KSh20,000, while the 3km Fun Run and 3km Children’s Race will cost KSh5,000 and KSh2,500, respectively.
MUST Vice-Chancellor Prof. Romanus Odhiambo said the university was looking forward to building on the success of last year’s inaugural edition while using the event to support education and cancer research.
“We are delighted to welcome the second edition of the Meru University Mt. Kenya Run, building on the success of our inaugural edition last year. This year, we are looking to build on that momentum and do it bigger and better,” Prof. Odhiambo said.
He urged members of the public to register and participate in the run, saying the event was aimed at contributing to efforts to address the cancer burden in the region.
“Please register and join us for this noble event as we run for education and cancer research. The prevalence of cancer in Meru is quite high, and we want to be part of the solution,” he said.
The inaugural edition last year saw Michael Selelo emerge victorious in the men’s 14km race after clocking 48:43, finishing ahead of Shadrak Korir and Josphat Tuwei, who finished second and third in 48:52:15 and 49:01:87, respectively.
In the women’s elite race, Gladys Songol claimed the title in 56:56, ahead of Regina Wambui, who finished second in 57:46. Jedidah Chepkemoi completed the podium after clocking 57:52.
