Swamibapa A Team have been crowned National Cricket Club of Africa (NCCA) Super Division 50-Overs League champions after collecting an unassailable 52 points from 15 matches, sealing the title with a seven-wicket victory over SCLPS YL A Team at Samaj Ground on Sunday, with one game remaining.
The champions have enjoyed an impressive season, winning 13 matches and losing only two to finish 12 points clear at the top of the table, with a net run rate of 1.299.
“It is a title built on consistency, depth in batting and a disciplined bowling unit that never allowed opponents to settle,” said Swamibapa batter Sachin Gill.

After an indifferent start to the campaign, in which they lost two of their opening four matches, Swamibapa recovered in emphatic fashion, stringing together 11 consecutive victories to claim a title that had eluded them for more than a decade.
Their performance in the title-deciding match summed up their dominance. SCLPS YL A Team posted a competitive 282 for seven in 50 overs, with Hiren Kerai top-scoring with a fighting 87 off 93 balls.
Swamibapa, however, chased down the target with ease, reaching 284 for three in just 42.1 overs.
Captain Rushabh Patel led from the front with a commanding 111 off 94 balls, striking 17 fours and one six at a strike rate of 118.09.
The champions made a flying start to the chase, with openers Patel and Jignesh Hirani putting together a 156-run partnership. Hirani contributed 51, providing solid support for his captain before the partnership was broken.
Player of the Match Onkar Haresh Jadhav then underlined his value to the side with a blistering 61 off 43 balls at a strike rate of 141.86, continuing his outstanding season with both bat and ball.
Jadhav has been Swamibapa’s talisman throughout the campaign. He ranks fourth on the overall Super Division run-scoring charts, with 837 runs from 14 innings at an average of 83.70 and a strike rate of 108.28, making him the highest run-scorer for the champions.
He is joined in the top 10 by Dhwanil Patel, who has accumulated 626 runs from 13 innings at an average of 56.91.
Jadhav also led Swamibapa’s bowling effort against SCLPS YL, taking three wickets for 45 runs in nine overs. Gill complemented him with an economical spell of two for 46 in 10 overs.
Throughout the season, Swamibapa’s bowling attack, led by Gill, Peter Koech, Jadhav and the rest of the unit, has played a crucial role in defending totals and restricting opponents, contributing to the team’s healthy net run rate.
While the title reflects the collective effort of the entire squad, special recognition goes to Jadhav for his all-round brilliance, Rushabh Patel for his match-winning century in the title-clinching game, Dhwanil Patel for his consistency in the top order, and Gill and the experienced bowling unit for delivering under pressure.
Faraz leads scoring charts as Kanbis edge Sir Ali
Sir Ali Muslim Club A Team’s Faraz Ahmad leads the overall Super Division batting charts with 935 runs from 14 innings at an average of 66.79 and an impressive strike rate of 147.24.
He is followed by Ruaraka A Team duo Satyalaksha Jain, who has scored 887 runs, and Omkar Ghule, with 849. Shubham Patel of Sikh Union A Team occupies fifth position with 784 runs.
Elsewhere, Kanbis A defeated Sir Ali A in a closely contested encounter at Eastleigh Ground, winning by one wicket to move into second place in the standings.
Sir Ali A won the toss and elected to bat but struggled with the bat, with leading run-scorer Faraz Ahmad dismissed for a duck for the second consecutive match.
Ahmad Bhatti rescued his side with a crucial 101, helping Sir Ali reach 209 after they had slumped to 114 for nine at one stage.
Smit Patel, who took three wickets for 47 runs, Nelson Odhiambo (two for 21) and Kushagar Sharma (two for 37) were the leading wicket-takers for Kanbis.
In reply, Kanbis’ formidable batting line-up struggled against Sir Ali’s bowling attack and narrowly completed the chase, with veteran Rakep Patel scoring 32 and Nelson Odhiambo contributing an equally important 32.

Their contributions proved decisive as Kanbis secured the one-wicket victory and climbed to second place on the table.
Former champions Ruaraka A bounced back from the previous week’s defeat to Kanbis A with a 38-run victory over Stray Lions A in a low-scoring encounter at Nairobi Club.
The defeat left Stray Lions rooted at the bottom of the standings after yet another disappointing outing.
At Nairobi Gymkhana, the home side piled further misery on struggling Sikh Union A Team with a commanding 146-run victory, the biggest winning margin of the weekend.
Gymkhana posted 321 for six in their allotted 50 overs, with Mohit Jhawa continuing his impressive form by scoring a superb 125 to anchor the innings and help his side set a formidable target.
Sikh Union A failed to mount a serious challenge in reply, collapsing to 175 all out in 38.5 overs as Gymkhana registered a comprehensive victory.
