Gender Principal Secretary (PS) Anne Wang’ombe has called on families to inculcate good morals in children for a better and cohesive society.
Wang’ombe also asked couples to coexist and nurture the spirit of mutual respect.

Speaking during a tree planting event in Kisii, Wang’ombe emphasized the importance of love, unity and mutual care at households level.
“We should teach our children good morals from family level. Let’s love and take care of each other,” the PS said.
“Women should respect and not mistreat their husbands, and the same message goes to men.”
She condemned the harmful practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), urging communities to abandon outdated traditions.
“Let’s stop FGM and instead take our girls to school so that they can get the education that they deserve,” she added.
Her message was echoed by the Kisii Central Deputy County Commissioner Joseph Mwangi who urged residents to live peacefully and resolve disputes through legal and administrative channels
“If you have any problems please come to our offices, we are here to help and advice,” Mwangi said.
He pointed out that land ownership disputes were a major contributor to gender based violence in the region.
He also warned against the use of alcohol, noting that it significantly fuels domestic violence.
