The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced a significant milestone in the ongoing Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise, with over 1.37 million new voters added to the Register since the launch on 30th March 2026.
In its latest update, the Commission reported an increase of 495,429 new registrations since 9th April, alongside 92,602 transfers and 1,969 updates of particulars.

Many of these new registrants are young, first-time voters, signaling a renewed commitment to Kenya’s democratic journey.
From Nairobi’s bustling streets to remote villages in Kwale, even elders aged over 80 have stepped forward to register. “Kenya is ready,” the Commission declared, adding:
“To those who joined the Register this week: You are no longer observers; you are now the architects of Kenya’s future… wazalendo wa kweli.”
With just 11 days remaining before the close of ECVR on 28th April 2026, IEBC is urging all eligible Kenyans to seize the opportunity.
“One who refuses or fails to vote loses the right to complain about the outcome of the election,” the Commission reminded citizens, emphasizing that strengthening democracy is a shared national obligation.
Importantly, Kenyans do not need to travel to their home constituencies to register.
“Save for kits at the constituency offices, all kits are open to register Kenyans to their preferred electoral areas. “
The Commission reaffirmed its dedication to transparency and credibility, extending registration services down to the Ward level. Existing voters are encouraged to confirm their details via the online portal at verify@iebc.or.ke.
