President William Ruto is beginning a four-day development tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties this evening (Sunday).

The visit is marked by major infrastructure, education, and sports engagements, starting with the groundbreaking for the expansion and upgrading of Kisii Stadium.

He will later attend a football match between Shabana Football Club and a local team, and subsequently hand over a bus to Shabana FC.

During his stay, the President is scheduled for a series of high-level meetings at Kisii State Lodge with Governors, MPs, MCAs, Church leaders, opinion leaders, and boda boda representatives from both counties.

On the development front, key activities include the groundbreaking of the long-awaited Suneka Airstrip in Bonchari Constituency, Kisii County, inspection of the Kisii Cancer Centre in Nyaribari Chache, and the construction of a tuition block at Nyamira University in North Mugirango.

He will also break ground or inspect several road projects including Bobaracho–Manyasi–Tinga (Kitutu Chache North), Keumbu–Ibeno (Nyaribari Chache), and Sameta–Egetuki (Bomachoge).

Other roads set for launch include Mochengo–Ayora–Maroo, Etago–Ekona–Geteri–Nyamaiya, and Nyamarambe–Esaka–Nyabigena all in South Mugirango, Kisii County.

In addition, the President will lay foundation stones for Ikonge Modern Market in North Mugirango, Mogongo Modern Market in Bomachoge Borabu, Nyamira Kenya Medical Training College, Nyamira Comprehensive School in West Mugirango, Keroka Technical Training Institute in Nyaribari Masaba, and Nyangweta Kenya Medical Training College in South Mugirango.

He will also commission Kegogi Market and inspect ongoing works at Nyakoe Market in Kitutu Chache North, as well as inspect construction at Masi Market in Nyaribari Masaba.

Further, he will launch construction of student hostels at Nyamache Kenya Medical Training College in Bobasi, Kisii University, and Kisii Polytechnic in Nyaribari Chache.

Other projects on the itinerary include the last mile Nyamira Water Supply Project in West Mugirango, Kisii Water Supply Project, and Ibeno last mile electricity connectivity in Nyaribari Chache.

In South Mugirango, he will also break ground for Omingo Bridge and lay the foundation stone for the Nyachenge Affordable Housing Project.
