The lush fairways of Ruiru Sports Club came alive over the weekend as more than 300 golfers gathered for the Chairman’s Prize TournamenT.
It turned out to be a showcase of skill and determination that produced some remarkable performances.

At the heart of it all was Judy Nyambura, who emerged as the overall champion with a commanding 43 points.
Playing off a handicap of 14, Nyambura’s consistency and precision across the 18 holes set her apart in a fiercely contested field.
“I am truly honoured to win the Chairman’s Prize, especially in such a competitive field,” she said afterwards.
“It was not easy out there, but I stayed focused, trusted my game, and remained patient throughout the round. This motivates me to keep improving and competing at a higher level.”
In Division A, Ngumo Kingori edged out Johnson Ngugi on countback with 38 points, while Catherine Wambui impressed in the ladies’ category with 39 points.
Division B saw Stephen Kungu claim victory with 42 points, and Margaret Kariuki led the women with 40 points.
Division C produced some of the highest scores of the day, with Alex Ndirangu matching Nyambura’s 43 points in the men’s category and Roselene Mwaura stealing the spotlight with an outstanding 44 points among the ladies.
Special awards added flair to the competition. Kelvin Metto, playing off a handicap of 3, demonstrated technical excellence to take the Gross Winner title with a score of 77.
Junior golfer Melvin Kungu impressed with 36 points, while guest players also made their mark—Chrispin Sankale winning the men’s category with 40 points and Rose Wachira topping the ladies with 36 points.
Skill prizes went to Terra Saidimu for Longest Drive (Men), while Catherine Wambui capped her strong day by claiming both Longest Drive (Lady) and Nearest to the Pin (Lady).
Reflecting on the event, one of the organisers noted, “This tournament reflects the spirit of Ruiru Sports Club—competitive yet communal. We are proud to see such talent and dedication across all divisions.”
