Public schools within West Mugirango Constituency are currently undergoing notable and commendable infrastructural face-lift and expansion, mainly through the National Government Constituency Fund (NG-CDF).
This includes the building of administration blocks, washrooms, classrooms, science laboratories, dormitories and repair of existing facilities.

Nyamira School is the latest beneficiary of a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) improvement initiative by NG-CDF, under the patronage of area MP, Stephen Mogaka.
Mogaka recently opened the newly-built modern ablution block and bio-digester system at the school.
He termed it a significant move towards the national bid for safe, sustainable, and dignified standards of hygiene in schools.
Mogaka referred the institution with pride as “his base” and encouraged students to aspire even higher in their school and life goals.
“I want to challenge us because you have to be somebody who makes a difference, and that is built and created on this ground that I’m standing on today,” he said.
The new WASH facilities serve not only to improve sanitation but also create a sanitizable environment where they can study and perform well.
While invoking cleanliness as being second to Godliness, the MP appreciated the hygienic standards at the school.
He also challenged the students to aim at getting a mean grade of 9.5 and above in their upcoming examinations.
“Why target a mean of 9.5? Because Kebirigo Boys are targeting 10. We have to compete and better our mean,” the MP said.
Highlighting the power of education and perseverance, the MP shared his personal story.
Having been a successful bank manager for 18 years, his encounter with a lawyer’s fat fee note led him to return to school and study law.
“I issued a cheque for KSh 35 million to a law firm for work done for two weeks. That day I knew I was in the wrong faculty,” he said.
“I went back to university and ended up being a lawyer, and now I’ve raised a fee notes worth more than ten times that.”
He called the students to action, showing them how ambition and lifelong learning could transform their lives.
The MP, who fully sponsors six students at the school, showed his love for education by launching an even larger vision.
He presented existing plans of building a new complex at the current Nyamira Primary School compound.
“During my period of service as MP, I have vowed to build a complete school that will prepare learners and eventually have a university in Nyamira,” he said.
“From ground to campus, we will be Nyamira through and through.”
Teachers were welcomed as the county’s best asset, with the MP challenging them to push the ceiling of education even higher.
He observed that his constituency had already taken the lead in the county during the last national exams.
The Mp also acknowledged the school’s rumba music team for creativity and passion.
The school’s Chief Principal George Onkundi, stated that “This kind of leadership in our communities is action oriented, and not based on false promises.”
Florence Obunga who is the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Nyamira South said, “We welcome such development-focused efforts and encourage similar initiatives nationwide.”
Diana Lenaibalatia who is the Constituency Fund Manager said: “It’s fulfilling to see funds making real impact on the ground. This should be the standard everywhere.”
Also with the team was Joshua Kaaga (Director of Education) Nyamira County who said that investing in education infrastructure is investing in the future of children.
