West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka is among leaders who have mourned Mama Teresia Nyaboke Omoke, mother of Kisii Senator Richard Momoma Onyonka, who died yesterday.
The matriarch died at 81 while undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.

In his condolence message, Mogaka said: “Mama Teresia was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by strength, dignity, and unwavering commitment to her family and community.”
“Losing a mother is an immeasurable loss. It is my prayer that God grants Hon. Onyonka and the family comfort, strength, and peace as they mourn and celebrate a life well lived.”
Masaba MP Manduku Nyaribari described her as “a beloved mother, a pillar of strength” and prayed for peace and comfort for the bereaved family.
Borabu MP Patrick Osero also sent condolences, calling the death “a huge hole in our hearts,” while Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi remembered her as a dedicated member of the Catholic Women’s Movement, popularly known as Mama Mkatoliki.
Senator Onyonka had issued a heartfelt statement, saying: “I regret to announce the passing on of my beloved mother, Mama Teresia Nyaboke Omoke, who departed this life today at the age of 81 years while receiving treatment at Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi.”
He eulogised her as a woman of faith, humility, and wisdom, adding: “Her passing is a profound loss not only to our family but also to all those whose lives she touched through her kindness, guidance, and enduring love. She was the heart of our home, and her legacy will continue to inspire us in the days ahead.”
The Senator expressed gratitude for the prayers and messages of comfort already received, requesting continued support as the family comes to terms with the loss. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in due course.
