PIMAC International Professionals, a consortium of like-minded professionals and youth, has expressed deep concern over the death of Albert Ojwang, a Kenyan citizen, while in police custody.

The organization, which accommodates both government and private sector professionals as a non-political body, has joined leaders and Kenyans in mourning his passing and is calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
In an official statement, PIMAC International noted that Ojwang had sought protection under the law but tragically lost his life while in police custody.
The organization welcomed efforts by the government and various stakeholders to investigate the case, emphasizing the need for transparency, accountability, and justice.
“We support all initiatives to determine the circumstances that led to this tragedy, who was responsible, and why it happened,” the statement read.
The consortium acknowledged the findings of the autopsy and commended forensic experts for their work.
It urged investigators to employ a structured framework based on the fundamental five W’s and H—who, what, when, where, why, and how—to ensure a comprehensive inquiry and actionable recommendations.
Call for Independent Investigations
PIMAC International advocated for independent investigations, stressing that inquiries must remain open and thorough, both within and outside government agencies.
It called for statements from all involved, including police officers of various ranks, complainants, eyewitnesses, and even inmates who may have had insight into the events leading to Ojwang’s death.
Furthermore, the organization recommended that the Inspector General of Police and the National Police Service Commission enhance professionalism in officer deployment and transfers, ensuring personnel serve in roles suited to their skills and training.
“There should be no assumption that any police officer can be deployed anywhere without consideration for their special responsibilities,” the statement emphasized.
“Improper deployment has contributed to systemic failures that need urgent correction.”
Concerns Over Police Conduct
PIMAC International highlighted several areas of concern regarding police operations within stations, emphasizing adherence to service standing orders.
It pointed out that key officers—including commanders, crime unit heads, duty officers, and station personnel—must be held accountable for their roles in upholding transparency and ensuring proper procedures are followed.
In addition, the organization urged the police force to improve its relationship with the public, advocating for greater collaboration between law enforcement and communities to foster trust and accountability.
Recommendations for National Leadership
The consortium also made broader recommendations, urging the executive arm of the government to ensure police services remain focused on protecting life, property, and the environment.
Additionally, it called on politicians to prioritize the safety of citizens by advocating for peace.
As investigations continue, PIMAC International called for calm among the public, stating: “We must allow the process to unfold in a fair and thorough manner so that justice can be served.”
