Beer brand Heineken®, through Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL), will on May 30 host football fans across Kenya for a series of UEFA Champions League (UCL) finals match-viewing parties.

This will mark the culmination of its “Fans Have More Friends” campaign launched in April.

The nationwide celebrations will take place across major cities and towns, with Heineken® seeking to create premium match-day experiences and bring fans together through football-themed entertainment events.

According to KWAL Commercial Director Alice Mwalimo, the initiative is designed to celebrate football culture and reward supporters with memorable viewing experiences.

“We want to celebrate football fans across Kenya with unforgettable match viewing experiences in leading entertainment spots in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu and Eldoret as we wrap up the ‘Fans Have More Friends’ campaign we launched in April,” she said.

The events will combine live football action with performances from leading Kenyan entertainers including Nameless, P-Unit, Okello Max, Iyaani, Femi One, Mejja, Jua Cali and MR Lenny. Organisers say the events will be curated as vibrant lifestyle experiences where fans can also enjoy food and social interaction.

Mwalimo encouraged football lovers to attend in large numbers, describing the event as more than just watching the final.

“This is not just about watching the finals but also connecting with other fans and making new friends. We also encourage fans to enjoy responsibly and not drink and drive,” she said.

The “Fans Have More Friends” campaign is a global Heineken® initiative launched in January and is built around the idea of fandom as a social connector. The campaign encourages supporters to build new friendships and stronger communities through shared football experiences.

KWAL Senior Brand Manager Prudence Mutembei said the campaign has already attracted strong participation in Kenya.

“The fandom campaign by Heineken® has helped redefine the UEFA Champions League experience in Kenya by transforming match watching into moments of real connection, moving from just being fans into being friends,” she said.

Mutembei noted that the campaign has so far delivered 60 fan activations across Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret and Meru, drawing hundreds of supporters to watch one of the world’s biggest football tournaments together.

For the finals, Heineken® plans to extend the experience to football fans nationwide through activations at selected entertainment venues including Capital Noir, Covo Thika Road and Quiver Kilimani in Nairobi; Berlin Lounge in Kisumu; Space Next Door in Nakuru; Alcapone Nyali in Mombasa; and Baniyas in Eldoret.

She urged football supporters to turn out in large numbers and enjoy what she described as an unforgettable UEFA Champions League finals experience.

The campaign is informed by Heineken® research showing football’s role in building social connections. According to the findings, 75 percent of fans say their passion for football has helped them meet new people, while 59 percent say fandom has contributed to some of their closest friendships.

Additionally, 72 percent of football fans believe language is not a barrier to making friends while watching matches in social spaces.
