Learners at Bogesaka DOK Primary and Junior Secondary School are set to benefit from modern digital learning facilities following the launch of a Sh62 million infrastructure project by the Safaricom and M-Pesa Foundations.
Speaking during the launch, Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke said the project would help prepare learners for the digital future by providing internet-connected computers and modern learning facilities.

“The computers will have internet access so that learners can conduct research, and the facility will also be open to the community during weekends,” said Isaboke.
He noted that the school, which has served the community for many years, requires significant improvements and thanked the Safaricom Foundation for stepping in to support its reconstruction.
The Principal Secretary also urged Kenyans to register for Social Health Authority (SHA) services and called on parents, teachers and community members to guide children on matters of discipline and morality.
“We need to teach our children moral values that will help them become responsible citizens in the future,” he said.
M-Pesa Foundation Project Manager, Engineer Zachary Hamptons, said the project falls under the Citizens of the Future programme, which seeks to transform lives through investments in education.
“We know that education underpins the development of any community. That is why we are investing Sh62 million in upgrading this school’s infrastructure,” said Hamptons.
According to Hamptons, the project will involve the construction of modern classrooms, a new administration block, a fully equipped ICT laboratory, a science laboratory, a kitchen and improved sanitation facilities.
He added that the foundation is working closely with the national government, county government and the local community to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
