Kenya is positioning itself at the forefront of Africa’s digital postal transformation, Principal Secretary for Information, Communications, Broadcasting and the Digital Economy, Stephen Isaboke, has affirmed.
Speaking at the 11th Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) Plenipotentiary Conference in Kampala, Uganda, PS Isaboke emphasized the need to modernize postal services into dynamic platforms for e-commerce, financial inclusion, and last-mile digital connectivity.

The conference brought together policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders from across the continent to discuss strategies for aligning postal systems with the digital economy.
PS Isaboke participated in both the Administrative and Technical Committees, signaling Kenya’s hands-on approach to shaping policy frameworks that are inclusive and forward-looking.
“The postal sector is no longer just about mail delivery—it is a bridge connecting traditional communication systems with modern digital services, including e-government, digital identity, and logistics networks,” he said.
Accompanied by Postmaster General John Tonui and senior officials, the Kenyan delegation highlighted ongoing national reforms aimed at leveraging innovation to expand access and create economic opportunities, especially in rural and underserved areas.
Kenya’s engagement at PAPU also focused on fostering regional cooperation, harmonizing policies, and building interoperable systems to support cross-border trade and communications.
Analysts say the country’s proactive stance reinforces its role as a key partner in Africa’s digital transformation agenda.
Kenya is committed to reimagining postal services as critical infrastructure for the continent’s digital future, blending policy insight, technological innovation, and regional diplomacy.
