More than 150 young people in Kisii County have graduated from a four-week digital skills training under the Huawei DigiTruck Program.
This is a mobile, solar-powered digital classroom initiative that continues to empower underserved communities across Kenya.

The training provided participants with vital skills in basic computer use, internet navigation, digital marketing, online safety, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
All these tools are essential in bridging the digital divide and unlocking economic opportunities for Kenyan youth.
A highlight of the program was the DigiTruck Innovation Competition, where participants presented digital solutions to local challenges.
The top three teams won tablets and were paired with mentors to help refine and launch their ideas.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Nominated MP Hon. Irene Mayaka lauded the initiative’s long-term impact.
“The digital skills these young people have acquired—like online safety and digital marketing—are not just tools for employment; they are gateways to global opportunities and financial independence,” Mayaka said.
She added that the initiative was “an investment in our future that reinforces Kisii’s spirit of entrepreneurship and excellence.”
Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Migos Ogamba praised the public-private synergy behind the initiative.
“The success of the DigiTruck program in Kisii is a powerful example of what happens when government, private sector, and community organizations align toward a shared goal,” the CS said.
He also commended Computers for Schools Kenya (CFSK) for their instrumental role in driving ICT literacy across rural regions.
Yuta Leng, Huawei Kenya’s Director for Public Affairs, congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to digital inclusion.
“These young people have shown that with the right tools and training, they can become innovators and problem-solvers,” he said.
“Huawei remains deeply committed to supporting the next generation of Kenyan leaders.”
The DigiTruck initiative, part of Huawei’s global Tech4All program, is implemented in partnership with the Ministries of ICT and Education, the ICT Authority, CFSK, and other key stakeholders.
It supports Kenya’s Digital Superhighway and Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) by broadening access to digital education and opportunity.
The Kisii graduation follows recent DigiTruck stops in Baringo, Migori, and Homa Bay Counties.
In Baringo, 180 youth trained at Kabimoi Vocational Training Centre
In Migori, 210 including 95 women, 115 men) trained at Uriri VTC.
In Homa Bay, 290 who included 143 women, 147 men trained at Oriwo Boys High School
Since its 2019 launch, the DigiTruck has trained over 9,000 youth in 39 counties.
