Kibera Soccer Women FC are the new champions of the 2025 FKF Women’s Cup after edging out Vihiga Queens 1–0 in a thrilling showdown at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
Super-sub Stellah Odhiambo became the heroine of the day, netting the decisive goal in the 90th minute after latching onto a pinpoint cross from Yvonne Idagiza.

The late strike sent the Kibera bench and their supporters into jubilation, sealing the victory in dramatic fashion.
Earlier in the match, Kibera had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 14th minute through Faith Mboya, whose thunderous strike rattled the crossbar.
The first half ended goalless, with both sides locked in a tense midfield battle.
Vihiga Queens mounted a determined push in the final minutes, but Kibera’s disciplined defense and unyielding pressure saw them hold firm to secure a memorable win.
Speaking after the match, Kibera head coach David Busego hailed his team’s resilience and tactical response.
“I’m really proud of my girls. It was a tough match. We missed several chances in the first half, but we made adjustments and found our rhythm in the second half,” Busego said.
“A big thank you to the organizers and betPawa for supporting women’s football. The introduction of the LBR has truly motivated the players.”
To win another day
On the opposing bench, Vihiga Queens head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu acknowledged the sting of a last-minute lapse.
“We lost a bit of concentration in the final minute, and we paid the price. Still, it was a good match, and both teams gave their all. We’ll regroup, correct our mistakes, and come back stronger next season,” he said.
Faith Mboya of Kibera was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), while Diana Cheron (Vihiga Queens) walked away with the Golden Boot.
Vivian Khayati, also of Vihiga Queens, claimed the Best Goalkeeper award for her standout performances throughout the tournament.
Kibera Soccer pocketed KSh 650,000, with runners-up Vihiga Queens receiving KSh 100,000, courtesy of tournament sponsor betPawa.
This year’s edition featured 32 teams, powered by betPawa’s continued investment in the women’s game.
Through its Locker Room Bonus (LRB) initiative, betPawa injected KES 4.3 million in direct rewards to players and technical staff.
The initiative aimed at fueling motivation and advancing the growth of women’s football across Kenya.
