The County Government of Kisii is reaching out to more partners to support People Living with Disabilities (PLWDs).
This was revealed by the County Executive Committee (CEC) member Dr. Timothy Arege when he received free wheelchairs and blankets from Mwanyagetinge meant to benefit PLWDs.

Dr. Arege thanked the organization for the kind gesture and assured them of fostering a working relationship for the good of the people Kisii County.
“We as a county are grateful for the donations that we have received,” he said.
“They will be of great help to our people who are in dire need of them for their mobility and comfort.”
He said the County Government was committed to ensure that the interests of all PLWDs are well catered for.
Dr. Arege called for continued cooperation by stakeholders.
“There are cases where caregivers are forced to carry their loved ones to seek services in far flung facilities and therefore, there is need for these interventions,” he noted.
The donation of 13 wheelchairs and 40 blankets was delivered by Mwanyagetinge Care and Support Group.
The donation was done in partnership with other local and international non-governmental organisations, which came together to assist the Kisii County Government in addressing the plight of the special needs groups.
On her part, Magdaline Mwebi, the director of Mwanyagetinge Care and Support Group committed to do more by sourcing such items from well-wishers from across the world to the benefit of the community.
She said, “I’m already engaging other local and international well-wishers to avail these items and even offer other forms of support systems like organizing medical camps and symposiums for the PLWDs and other vulnerable groups in our society.”
Paul Ochora, Assistant Director, People Living with disability (PLWDs), indicated that “the County Government undertook an assessment of the PLWDs in all the nine sub-counties.”
The exercise was meant to help in identification of persons with mobility challenges and seek ways to assist them.
