The Ministry of Health has called on partners and stakeholders to increase support for Kenya’s Ebola response, prioritising contact tracing, laboratory testing and quarantine capacity.

Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni made the appeal during a stakeholders’ breakfast meeting, urging partners to make concrete commitments, improve transparency in reporting and strengthen coordination to prevent further transmission.

Laboratory data presented at the meeting showed that, as of October 18, 2026, eight of 404 samples tested had returned positive results, while 396 were negative.

Of the 50 contacts tested, five had returned negative results, while 39 results were still pending.

Muthoni urged counties to strengthen preparedness, improve public communication and ensure accurate information was shared promptly to counter misinformation and public anxiety.

She also called on partners to channel their support through established coordination structures to avoid duplication of efforts and strengthen the national response.

The PS reiterated that there was no cause for alarm, urging the public to remain calm as the government and its partners worked to contain the outbreak.
