Residents and businesses in several parts of Nairobi and its environs will experience a 24-hour water supply interruption this weekend as Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company undertakes emergency repairs on a key water transmission pipeline.
In a statement issued on Friday, Nairobi Water said the interruption had been necessitated by a leakage on the NCT Raw Water Pipeline near the Kigoro Treatment Works, which requires urgent repair works to safeguard the integrity of the water transmission system and ensure continued reliable service delivery.

The water outage will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, and is expected to last until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 21.
Areas set to be affected include Westlands, Lavington, Kilimani, Upper Hill, Ngong Road, Madaraka, Lang’ata, Kibera, Karen, Uthiru, Kawangware, Kangemi, Ruai, Ngundu and Kamulu. Customers served by MAVWASCO and Oloolaiser Water Company will also be affected by the temporary shutdown.
Nairobi Water has advised residents, institutions and businesses in the affected areas to store sufficient water ahead of the interruption to minimise inconvenience during the repair period.
The utility company said its technical teams would work around the clock to complete the repairs and restore normal water supply as soon as possible once the works are concluded.
The company apologised for the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their patience, understanding and cooperation as the repairs are undertaken.
Customers seeking updates or assistance during the interruption have been advised to contact Nairobi Water through its toll-free customer care line, 0800 724 366, which operates daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The planned repair works come as Nairobi continues to grapple with growing demand for water services.
