The Kenya Judiciary Academy will hold the inaugural Judges Book Fair 2026 on Friday the 8th.
The event is aimed at showcasing scholarly and creative works authored by judges, magistrates, and judicial staff.

The fair will be at the Kenya National Library Service Building in Upper Hill, Nairobi, from 8am to 6pm.
Speaking ahead of the event, Kenya Judiciary Academy Deputy Director Duncan Okelo said the book fair will highlight both academic and non-academic publications that contribute to legal thought, public policy, and the understanding of the law.
“This is the first judges book fair ever hosted by the Judiciary and the academy,” said Okelo.
“The idea is to showcase the works that have been done by judges, magistrates and judicial staff on various aspects of law and public policy.”
He noted that the event seeks to demonstrate that judicial officers contribute to society not only through court judgments, but also through intellectual engagement and public discourse.
“It is important for us to demonstrate that judges don’t just write judgments, they also engage and reflect with ideas that they encounter in court and out there,” he said.
According to Okelo, the fair will explore the connection between “off-bench writing and on-bench writing,” while also providing a platform for the Judiciary to engage directly with members of the public.
He described the initiative as part of the Judiciary’s outreach efforts aimed at promoting the role of ideas and scholarship in shaping society.
“Progress in any society and civilization is driven by the power of ideas and the power of thought,” Okelo said.
The event is expected to attract legal practitioners, scholars, students, policymakers, and members of the public interested in legal literature and judicial scholarship.
