Avenews, an agri-fintech company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Grebe Enterprises Limited to provide embedded financing solutions for agro-dealers across the Great Rift Valley.
The partnership is designed to ease working capital constraints that have long hindered Kenya’s agricultural supply chain.

Under the new model, stockists ordering inputs from Grebe Enterprises will receive immediate financing from Avenews, allowing them to restock without upfront cash.
Repayment is made only after sales to farmers, aligning credit with actual trade flows.
“At Avenews, we understand that agri-traders operate on thin margins and tight seasons. Timing is critical; stockists need to restock quickly to meet farmer demand,” said Emmanuel Murai, Business Development Director at Avenews Kenya.
The initiative is expected to strengthen supply chains and ensure farmers have consistent access to seeds, fertilisers, crop protection, and animal health products.
Grebe Enterprises General Manager Dunson Kamau emphasized the impact on farm productivity: “In a sector where farmers depend on timely access to inputs, any delay in a stockist’s ability to restock hits farm productivity immediately.
Through our partnership with Avenews, we’re removing that barrier.”
Kamau added that the collaboration builds on Grebe’s decade-long trust with agro-dealers in the Central Rift Valley.
“This is not just about financing, but also making sure our stockists can say ‘yes’ to their farmer customers every single time,” he said.
The MoU was signed at Grebe Enterprises’ headquarters in Pipeline, Nakuru, with rollout already underway following a successful pilot.
The program will initially focus on Nakuru and the wider Rift Valley, complementing Avenews’ national presence across Kenya.
