Kenya Shujaa head coach Kevin Wambua has named his squad for the Africa Men’s Sevens tournament in Mauritius, with the team set to depart on Thursday, 1 October.

The two-day tournament will be held from 3–4 October at the SPARC International Rugby Stadium in Cascavelle and will feature eight teams competing in the second event of the revised 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens Series.

Kenya has been drawn in Pool B alongside Namibia, Réunion and Madagascar.

Wambua has blended experienced campaigners with emerging talent, handing international debuts to Patrick Sabatia, Glacious Owino, Dennis Livoi and Lucky Onyango.

The quartet impressed during the recently concluded National Sevens Circuit, earning their places in the national team as Kenya continues to strengthen its player development pathway.

Elvis Olukusi and Rayvone Ambale will co-captain the squad, providing leadership as Shujaa begin their continental campaign.

The squad also includes experienced players Gabriel Ayimba and Brian Mutua, alongside regular Shujaa campaigners Clinton Amukwachi, David Nyangige, Arnold Agonda and Victor Odhiambo.

The selection reflects the national sevens programme’s continued effort to combine established international players with emerging talent. A provisional Shujaa squad announced earlier in September also featured a mix of experienced internationals and players progressing through the National Sevens Circuit.

Kenya and South Africa occupy the top two positions in the 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens rankings under the revised Rugby Africa format, while the Mauritius tournament will determine the rankings of the participating teams below the two sides.

Shujaa’s Pool B fixtures

Shujaa will begin their campaign on Saturday, 3 October, against Namibia at 8:44am EAT before facing Réunion at 11:50am.

They will complete their pool-stage matches against Madagascar at 2:40pm.

The Mauritius assignment will give Wambua’s charges valuable international competition as they prepare for the 28th edition of Safari7s, scheduled for 9–11 October at Nyayo National Stadium.
