Under tents in Boochi-Borabu Ward, more than 200 students gathered yesterday for something they longed for—clarity about life after the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
The career guidance forum, set against a calm rural backdrop, felt less like a formal event and more like a turning point.
Students listened attentively, notebooks in hand, as speakers broke down the often-confusing Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) placement process and offered practical advice on choosing courses that align with both passion and performance.
For many, this was the first time career decisions felt real—and within reach.
Dr. George Ngwacho Areba of Kisii University who was the Guest of Honour, urged the students to approach their future with discipline and confidence.
‘The choices you make now should reflect not just your grades, but your ambitions,” he said.
The forum was organized by Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist Dr. Geoffrey Otomu and Prof. Henry Onderi, a lecturer at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST).
Their efforts brought together a diverse group of professionals and local leaders.
What stood out most, however, was the openness of the professionals who shared their journeys—their struggles, detours, and eventual successes.
Many students described the experience as eye-opening, saying they now felt better prepared to navigate the next phase of their education.
