Kenya’s Junior Baseball5 team has been crowned the 2026 East African champions after completing an impressive unbeaten campaign at the regional tournament, which concluded on Sunday in Kampala.

The youthful Kenyan side produced a dominant performance in the final, defeating hosts Uganda in straight sets to reclaim the regional crown.

Kenya cruised to an 11-0 victory in the opening set before sealing the title with an 8-1 win in the second set.

Kenya remained undefeated throughout the tournament, displaying exceptional skill, teamwork and consistency to emerge as the clear champions and wrest the title back from Uganda.

By reaching the final, both Kenya and Uganda secured qualification for the African Baseball5 Championship, where they will represent the East African region later this year.

The regional triumph comes as a major boost for the Kenyan team ahead of a busy international schedule.

Besides the continental championship, the team is also preparing to represent the country at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, later this year.

Team officials lauded the players for their discipline, determination and outstanding performances throughout the competition, expressing confidence that the regional success will provide momentum as they prepare to face Africa’s top teams and eventually compete against the world’s best at the Youth Olympics.

The victory marks another significant milestone in the growth of Baseball5 in Kenya and further strengthens the country’s reputation as one of the region’s leading powers in the fast-growing sport.

Having gone through the tournament without defeat and delivered a commanding performance in the final, Kenya now turns its attention to the continental stage with confidence and growing expectations.
