Kenya’s Sports Disputes Tribunal has temporarily halted sweeping leadership changes at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
This relates to an ongoing power struggle within the country’s top football organ.

According to tribunal directions issued in Nairobi on April 27, 2026, the case—filed by Ahmed Abdi Mohamed against McDonald Mariga, Robert Kenneth Macharia and 10 others—was certified as urgent, paving the way for immediate interim orders.
The tribunal granted a temporary injunction restraining the respondents “from effecting the entire resolutions as passed on 24th April 2026” pending further directions.
The disputed resolutions, passed during a Football Kenya Federation National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, had sought to suspend FKF President Hussein Mohammed and install Mariga in an acting capacity—triggering sharp divisions within the federation.
In its orders, the tribunal directed the applicant to serve all relevant documents, including the statement of claim and notice of motion, to the respondents and interested parties by April 29 at noon.
The respondents have until May 4 to file and serve their responses.
“Owing to the exigency of this matter, the parties may also make oral representations during the mention,” the tribunal ruled.
The matter is scheduled for mention on May 5, 2026, at 2:30 p.m.
