President William Ruto on Saturday joined thousands of alumni, students, clergy and leaders in marking 120 years of Maseno School.
He paid glowing tribute to the institution’s enduring contribution to education, leadership and nation-building in Kenya and East Africa.

The colourful celebrations at the iconic school grounds brought together generations of former students who traced their roots to the famous Oseno tree, the symbolic foundation upon which the institution was established in 1906 by the Church Missionary Society.
In his address, President Ruto described Maseno School as more than just a centre of learning, saying it had become a living monument to discipline, service, leadership and academic excellence over the last 120 years.
“For 120 years, Maseno School has stood not merely as a centre of learning, but as a living monument to the enduring power of education, discipline, leadership, service and nationhood,” Ruto said.
The President noted that despite changing political seasons, governments and historical moments, the institution had remained steadfast in producing leaders, scholars, clergy, scientists and public servants who have helped shape the country and the wider East African region.
He attributed the school’s consistency in academic excellence to its culture of discipline, institutional pride and commitment to nurturing excellence among learners.
Ruto also pledged government support towards upgrading learning infrastructure at the institution, including some of the historic facilities built by the school’s founders more than a century ago.
Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke, who joined fellow alumni during the celebrations, described Maseno School as a pillar that has shaped generations of leaders across Kenya and beyond.
Speaking during the event, Isaboke said the institution had played a critical role in nurturing values, innovation and leadership among young people.
“As alumni, we remain proud of the values and leadership nurtured within these walls. The next century for Maseno begins today,” he said.
He also emphasized the importance of education in preparing future innovators, digital leaders and transformational thinkers in Kenya’s expanding digital economy.
The anniversary celebrations also attracted several national leaders, among them Migos Ogamba, Opiyo Wandayi, Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, Tom Ojienda and Raymond Omollo.
