President William Ruto has stepped up his signature style of hosting grassroots leaders at State House, this time welcoming a delegation from Kisii and Nyamira for the second time in just a few weeks.
The President said his administration is determined to work with leaders from all political persuasions to deliver transformative programmes across the country, emphasising that progress must take priority over divisive politics.

“We have a rare and historic opportunity to make every part of our country truly prosperous,” President Ruto said.
The delegation included former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Kisii Governor Simba Arati, Members of County Assembly, clergy, and tea and coffee sector representatives.
By bringing together rivals and allies alike, Ruto underscored his ongoing effort to forge broad-based consensus for national development.
He announced major investments in agriculture, housing, healthcare, education, and infrastructure in Kisii and Nyamira counties.
Projects highlighted include 22,000 affordable housing units worth more than KSh46 billion, seven new markets, expanded student hostel capacity, and KSh7.9 billion released to pay pending road bills.
On healthcare, the President said the new Social Health Authority digital platform was eliminating fraud by introducing biometric systems in major hospitals.
“The health care system has been digitised, including from admission to discharge,” he noted, adding that SHA had already paid out KSh58 billion in the past 10 months, far above the annual NHIF disbursements.
He further pledged government support to restructure the KSh6.5 billion coffee cooperative debt, with KSh2 billion allocated this financial year. Kisii Stadium will also be modernised at a cost of KSh500 million.
Mr Odinga backed the Affordable Housing Programme, saying it was a game-changer in providing jobs and decent homes while helping eradicate slums.

“We must support this programme because it provides decent shelter and employment to Kenyans,” he said.
Governor Arati assured that Gusii leaders would work closely with the national government.
“As ODM, we will work with the government. We are confident that President Ruto will change Kenya, especially now that he is working with Raila Odinga,” he remarked.
The back-to-back meetings with Gusii leaders underscore Ruto’s sustained outreach to regions, blending political inclusivity with the rollout of big-ticket development projects.
