Judy Nyambura delivered a masterclass performance to emerge the overall winner of the Chairman’s Prize Golf Tournament at Ruiru Sports Club, beating a field of more than 300 golfers in a fiercely contested event.
Playing off handicap 14, Nyambura carded an impressive 43 points to clinch the coveted title during a tournament that attracted golfers from various divisions and showcased some of the finest talent on the local circuit.

Speaking after her victory, Nyambura attributed her success to focus and patience throughout the round.
“I am truly honored to win the Chairman’s Prize, especially in such a competitive field with over 300 golfers. It was not easy out there, but I stayed focused, trusted my game, and remained patient throughout the round,” she said.
She added: “This victory means a lot to me, and it motivates me to keep improving and competing at a higher level.”
In Division A, Ngumo Kingori (handicap 12) claimed the men’s title with 38 points, edging Johnson Ngugi on countback after both golfers finished level on the same score. Catherine Wambui dominated the ladies’ category with 39 points, while Pam Nkirote settled for second place on 38 points.
Division B produced equally strong performances, with Stephen Kungu winning the men’s category on 42 points ahead of Peter Kamau, who returned 41 points. Margaret Kariuki topped the ladies’ standings with 40 points, while Edith Ngugi finished runner-up with 38 points.
Alex Ndirangu matched Nyambura’s 43-point tally to win Division C men’s honours, but the standout score in the division came from Roselene Mwaura, who posted an impressive 44 points to take the ladies’ title and register one of the best returns of the tournament.
Kelvin Metto, playing off handicap three, demonstrated his class by securing the Gross Winner award with a score of 77. In the junior category, Melvin Kungu emerged victorious after posting 36 points.
Guest players also left their mark on the competition. Chrispin Sankale won the Guest Men’s category with 40 points, ahead of Paul Mukundi on 38 points, while Rose Wachira topped the Guest Ladies’ category with 36 points.
The tournament also featured skill contests, with Terra Saidimu winning the Longest Drive award in the men’s category. Catherine Wambui capped a memorable day by claiming both the Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin awards among the ladies, while Paul Gichu secured the men’s Nearest to the Pin prize.
