The National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) Board has announced a leadership transition following the exit of its Chief Executive Officer, Yusuf Mbuno, who has served the institution since September 2011.
In a press statement issued Friday in Nairobi, the Board described the move as a “change of guard in its executive leadership,” marking the end of a tenure it credited with significant institutional growth and reform.

“During his tenure, Mr. Mbuno provided strong strategic leadership, oversight, and stewardship, guiding the Fund through a period of significant institutional growth and reform,” the statement read.
The Board highlighted Mbuno’s role in strengthening accountability across constituencies, noting that he “institutionalized robust accountability and performance management systems… significantly strengthening the Fund’s operations.”
His leadership, the Board added, “enhanced transparency and improved the effective delivery of grassroots development projects.”
Pending the appointment of a substantive CEO, the Board has appointed Benjamin Magut as Acting Chief Executive Officer to ensure continuity.
“As the organization awaits the appointment of a substantive Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Benjamin Magut has assumed office as Acting Chief Executive Officer to ensure continuity of leadership and smooth operations,” the statement said.
Magut brings experience in public sector administration and legislative processes, having previously served at the NG-CDF Board and in Parliament.
The Board expressed confidence in his leadership, stating that management “reaffirmed confidence in Mr. Magut’s leadership as the Fund continues to advance equitable and sustainable development across all constituencies.”
At the same time, the Board conveyed its appreciation to Mbuno for his years of service, thanking him for “his service and contribution to the growth of the Fund.”
The transition comes at a time when the NG-CDF continues to play a central role in financing grassroots development projects across Kenya, particularly in education, infrastructure, and community development initiatives.
