Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will next Thursday meet to chart a joint roadmap for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which the three East African nations will co-host.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said the meeting—dubbed the “Pamoja” session—will bring together ministers to address key issues ahead of the continental showpiece, including visa facilitation and tax exemptions.
Speaking at Talanta Plaza in Nairobi while hosting the new CAF Acting Secretary General Samson Adamu, Mvurya reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to delivering a world-class tournament.
“There are a number of decisions we will be making next week because we will be having a Pamoja meeting bringing together ministers to discuss matters such as visas, tax exemptions and many others,” he said.
“CAF will be a key facilitator, and we will be announcing the roadmap that will guide the three East African countries towards AFCON 2027.”
Mvurya added that the meeting with Adamu was also an opportunity to congratulate him on his appointment and to reiterate Kenya’s readiness to host the tournament.
“We had a brief courtesy meeting, and as a government we congratulate him for his new responsibility and reaffirm our commitment to host AFCON. We have a lot of activities ahead to ensure we deliver a successful tournament,” he noted.
The CS also witnessed the official handover ceremony of the AFCON 2027 Local Organising Committee leadership, welcoming chair Nicholas Musonye and incoming CEO Antony Lungaho.
He further commended the CHAN 2025 team, led by CEO Mike Rabar, for what he described as an outstanding tournament that elevated Kenya’s profile on the continental and global stage through professionalism and quality delivery.
