Jubilee Party’s possible flag bearer Dr Fred Matiang’i has called on residents of Kisii County to uphold peace and respect the rule of law amid rising political tensions in the region.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Dr Zachary Onyonka Nyanguru DOK Mixed Secondary School in Kitutu Chache South Constituency, Dr Matiang’i said peace remained the foundation of development and urged citizens to resolve disputes through lawful and non-violent means.

“Let us call for peace. Peace is everything. The permanent solution is to follow the law and live peacefully without any form of violence,” he said.
Dr Matiang’i also came to the defence of Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi, alleging that some individuals were mobilising resources and influential figures to politically undermine the legislator because of his development record.
“I am aware some people are raising money and mobilising senior officers to come and fight MP Kibagendi because he is doing a good job for the people of Kitutu Chache South,” said Dr Matiang’i.
The former Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) further criticised the current administration, claiming that Kenyans were facing governance challenges.
He maintained that discipline, unity and adherence to the law were critical pillars for national progress and sustainable development.
Dr Matiang’i’s remarks came during the commissioning of the newly established secondary school, an event attended by local leaders, residents and education stakeholders.
Host MP Anthony Kibagendi thanked residents for their continued support and reaffirmed his commitment to development initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people of Kitutu Chache South.
He urged leaders to focus on projects that directly benefit wananchi, saying development should remain the priority regardless of political differences.
