The inaugural NCBA Machakos Open tees off this weekend at Machakos Golf Club, marking the eighth leg of the 2026 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) series.
The three-day tournament, scheduled from April 17 to 19, has drawn a competitive field of 47 golfers, all vying for a KES 400,000 prize purse.

The Machakos Open is among two new additions to this year’s KAGC calendar, alongside the Ulinzi Invitational, which was successfully staged in March at the Kenya Air Force Golf Club.
Golf Park’s Elly Limo headlines the field after an impressive victory at last weekend’s NCBA Winston Churchill tournament, arriving in top form as one of the favourites.
He faces stiff competition from a strong lineup that includes Isaack Makokha, John Koina, John Kamais, Felix Dusabe, and Josphat Rono.
Kenya Golf Union Vice Chairman and Tournaments Director Brian Akun said the expanded calendar is designed to strengthen the amateur game.
“The inclusion of two new tournaments is aimed at elevating performance standards while offering structured pathways for growth. The NCBA Ulinzi Invitational was a big success, and we look forward to an even better Machakos Open this weekend,” he said.
In the race for the 2026 KAGC title, Jay Sandhu leads the standings with 560 points, holding a commanding advantage over Junaid Manji, who sits second on 334.02 points.
Elvis Muigua has climbed to third with 247.26 points following his runner-up finish in Thika, while Kamoza Longwe and Michael Karanga complete a tightly packed top five.
Meanwhile, attention also shifts to Golf Park, where the eighth qualifier of the 2026 NCBA Golf Series will be held on Friday.
The event will run as part of the club’s Monthly Mug, offering players a chance to book their spots in the season-ending Grand Finale at Karen Country Club in November.
Golfers will compete across multiple categories, including Overall Gross Winners and Runners-Up for both men and ladies, as well as junior honours, highlighting the inclusive and competitive nature of the series as it continues its nationwide tour.
This will be the eighth qualifier of the season, following earlier stops at Royal Nairobi, Kericho, Muthaiga, Mombasa, Mt Kipipiri, Kenya Railways, and Nanyuki.
