The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has formally unveiled the list of candidates cleared to vie in its forthcoming National Elections, set for April 18th, 2026.
The announcement, signed by Secretary General Akelo M.T. Misori on March 19th, signals the start of a decisive campaign period for one of the country’s most influential teachers’ unions.

At the top of the ballot, the contest for National Chairperson will be closely watched, with incumbent Hon. Omboko Milemba facing challenger Christine A. Agutu.
The Vice Chairperson’s race will also be competitive, featuring Mr. Julius Korir and Mr. Hassan Abdi Adan.
Several other positions have attracted multiple aspirants, including Assistant National Treasurer, National Secretary Gender, National Secretary Secondary, National Secretary Tertiary, and the Assistant National Secretary Gender posts.
In contrast, a number of offices will be filled unopposed, reflecting continuity in the union’s leadership.
These include the Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, National Treasurer, National Organizing Secretary, the 1st Assistant National Secretary Gender, and the Assistant National Secretary Junior Secondary.
The cleared candidates now turn their focus to campaigning and engaging members ahead of the April polls.
With both contested and uncontested positions, the elections are expected to shape KUPPET’s strategic direction and advocacy priorities for the coming term, reinforcing its role in championing the welfare of teachers across Kenya.
