Kenya reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive digital development during the #WSISPlus20 High-Level Event in Geneva.
This was a landmark global gathering marking 20 years of progress in building a more inclusive and sustainable digital future.

Broadcasting Principal Secretary (PS) Steve Isaboke, joined the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo Gitau, at the event, representing Kenya’s continued leadership in global ICT policy and development.
The delegation’s participation underscored the country’s strategic role in advocating for equitable digital access and innovation-driven growth.
While in Geneva, the Kenyan team engaged in high-level dialogues with global ICT leaders, including a crucial meeting with International Telecommunication Union (ITU) BDT Director Dr. Cosmas Zavazava.
Discussions centered around Kenya’s active role in the upcoming World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in Baku and progress on ongoing BDT-supported projects.
Efforts to unlock #Partner2Connect funding, key to supporting youth-driven innovation and entrepreneurship, were also discussed.
“We remain steadfast in our mission to expand digital infrastructure and bridge the connectivity divide,” remarked PS Isaboke.
“Through global collaboration, we aim to amplify local voices, support digital literacy, and unlock new socio-economic opportunities across Kenya.”
Also in attendance was Kenya’s Tech Envoy, Balozi Philip Thigo, who spotlighted Kenya’s digital transformation journey and emerging tech talent, reinforcing the country’s place as a vibrant innovation hub in Africa and beyond.
