KCB Rugby Club is brimming with confidence ahead of the 2026 KCB MET 7s tournament set for Saturday at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka, with the bankers viewing the event as a crucial stepping stone towards the National Sevens Circuit.
The Kenya Rugby Union-sanctioned competition has attracted 16 teams, promising a thrilling day of sevens action as clubs fine-tune their squads ahead of the national campaign.

KCB have been drawn in Pool A alongside Homeboyz RFC, Kabete Stallions and JKUAT Cougars in what is expected to be one of the most competitive groups of the tournament.
Other pools feature a mix of university, club and emerging sides eager to make their mark.
KCB Rugby Club Vice Chairperson Brian Mwita believes the tournament will provide the perfect platform for players and teams to test themselves before the national circuit begins.
“The KCB MET 7s represents our commitment to the growth of rugby in Kenya by creating opportunities for players across all levels to compete on one platform,” said Mwita.
“As a club, we are excited to once again support this initiative while using it to sharpen our squad ahead of what promises to be a highly competitive National Sevens Circuit.”
Now in its fifth edition, the tournament was launched in 2022 by Stingerz Rugby Football Club to bridge the gap between grassroots rugby and elite competition.
Since then, it has grown steadily, attracting teams from across the country and earning recognition from the Kenya Rugby Union and Rugby Africa.
Tournament Director Collins Nabiswa said the competition continues to play a key role in developing future rugby stars.
“Our vision has always been to create a sustainable pathway where young players can compete alongside established talent and gain the experience needed to progress to higher levels of the game,” said Nabiswa.
“We expect an exciting tournament this weekend and welcome rugby fans to be part of the experience.”
Beyond the silverware on offer, the KCB MET 7s remains an important preparation event, giving coaches a valuable opportunity to assess combinations, integrate new players and fine-tune tactics under competitive conditions ahead of the National Sevens Circuit.
