The Jubilee Party has declared its intention to field a candidate in the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election while simultaneously rallying opposition partners to unite behind a single contender under its banner.
In a detailed statement, the party paid tribute to the late David Kiaraho, the Ol Kalou MP whose death triggered the mini-poll. Jubilee described him as “a leader whose life was defined by humility, service, and an unbreakable bond with the people he represented,” noting that the country is still in reflection following his final rites.

Turning to the impending contest in Ol Kalou Constituency, the party affirmed: “The Party will field a candidate in the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election,” emphasizing that the seat was previously held by a Jubilee legislator.
It also sought to reassure constituents, promising “free, fair, and transparent nominations that reflect democratic values and the will of the people.”
Jubilee framed the by-election as a broader political test, urging like-minded parties to close ranks.
“In the spirit of building a credible, united, and formidable alternative government… Jubilee Party respectfully urges our coalition partners to support the fielding of a single opposition candidate,” the statement said.
The party argued that public pressure for unity is growing nationwide.
“This is a defining moment for the opposition… Kenyans are increasingly vocal and resolute in their demand for unity of purpose,” it stated, adding that voters now prefer “cooperation over competition, solidarity over fragmentation, and strategy over short-term political interests.”
To back its position, Jubilee pointed to past precedents, citing cooperation in by-elections in Mbeere North Constituency and Emurua Dikirr Constituency.
In those contests, the party said it stepped aside or backed joint candidates to strengthen a unified opposition front—an approach it described as “intentional, principled, and aligned with the expectations of Kenyans.”
Even as it pushes for unity in Ol Kalou, the party made it clear it is preparing for a full-scale national contest.
“For the avoidance of doubt… the Jubilee Party will field candidates in all electoral positions all over the country, from the MCAs to the President in the upcoming general elections, 2027,” the statement added.
