A cloud of grief has consumed Nkura Village in Nyangoge Sub-location, Kisii South Sub-county, after the deaths of two young girls in unclear circumstances.
Reports show that four-year-old Annah Bahati and five-year-old Stacy Nyanchama’s lives ended in circumstances that have left residents shocked and searching for answers.

The two were inseparable friends, according to apolice report seen by KPC.
Villagers say the two spent most of their days playing together around their homes in Bomorenda Location, their laughter a familiar sound in the quiet rural neighbourhood.
But on the evening of July 7, 2026, that laughter fell silent.
According to local residents, the girls disappeared at around 6 p.m. after going out to play.
As darkness descended and the children failed to return home, worried family members and neighbours launched a frantic search.
Hours later, at around 10 p.m., the search ended in heartbreak.
The two girls were found lifeless inside a banana plantation near Marble Hospital in Nkura 3 Village.
A bottle believed to contain Diazinon poison was reportedly recovered near the scene.
“It was a very painful sight,” said one resident who joined the search.
“We had hoped to find them alive and bring them home. Instead, we found them lying there. The whole village is devastated.”
Preliminary reports indicate that the children may have been abducted before being killed.
There are also suspicions that they may have been defiled and poisoned, although authorities say investigations are still underway and the exact cause of death has not yet been established.
The tragedy has shaken the entire community, with residents struggling to comprehend how such violence could be inflicted on two innocent children.
Local administrators and police officers responded to the scene after being alerted.
Kisii South Deputy County Commissioner Grace Ouma visited the area, while officers from Suneka Police Station processed the scene and launched investigations.
The bodies were later moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) mortuary pending post-mortem examinations.
