The Ebirongo Youth Group has rejected allegations of criminal involvement, saying it is a legally registered organisation dedicated to youth empowerment, economic growth and community development in Nyaribari Chache.
Speaking during a meeting that brought together members from various wards, group leaders said the organisation’s primary mission remains creating economic opportunities for young people and supporting community development initiatives.

“We are not goons,” said member Davis Omosa. “We are youths who want to see progress in our community and we support leadership that delivers development.”
The remarks came as members sought to clarify the group’s role in the constituency and respond to what they described as misconceptions about its activities.
Vice Chairperson Julius Orangi said the organisation draws its membership from across Nyaribari Chache, including Birongo, Ibeno, Keumbu and Bobaracho wards.
“This team covers the whole constituency. We came together to discuss how the group can continue supporting development and helping people in our area,” said Orangi.
Group leader Japhet Onyambu said Ebirongo Youth Group was established in 2013 to help young people pursue economic opportunities and improve their livelihoods.
“We started this group to empower youths economically. Today, we are thankful because the county government has continued to empower us and support our activities,” he said.
During the meeting, members pointed to several projects they said had positively impacted residents, including improvements in roads, healthcare services, market infrastructure and education programmes.
Linet Nyanchoka said youths had witnessed changes that had made life easier for residents, citing school milk programmes and support for women traders among the initiatives they appreciated.
“We are here to thank Governor Paul Simba Arati and MP Zaheer Jhanda for the support they have given the people. Women traders have also received financial assistance to start businesses,” she said.
The group also reiterated its support for ongoing development programmes in the constituency, saying investments in public services and youth empowerment had contributed to improving livelihoods in the area.
According to Onyambu, the organisation remains committed to mobilising young people towards productive activities and strengthening community participation in development efforts.
