Kisii County Woman Representative Doris Donya has strongly condemned political violence, calling on leaders, security agencies and residents to work together to safeguard peace and stability in the county.
Speaking in Kisii, Donya said no responsible leader should condone violence, noting that the people often drawn into political clashes are young people whose futures are placed at risk.

“As a leader, no one can allow violence to take place because the people involved in violence are our children. Today you could be celebrating that people have been hurt, but you don’t know your tomorrow,” she said.
The legislator urged security agencies to take firm action against perpetrators while leaders continue promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among residents.
“I call upon the security agencies to do their work as leaders we also do our work,” Donya said.
She also appealed to young people to resist being lured into violent activities by politicians and other individuals seeking to exploit them for financial gain.
“Those our children are being given money so that they do violent things. Please stop it,” she said.
Donya reiterated her longstanding opposition to violence, recalling a past attack on her office but insisting that the incident had not changed her commitment to peace.
“I remember the violence that happened at my office last time, but I still stand firm up to today to condemn violence. I don’t support any violence and I have never been violent,” she said.
She emphasized that Kisii County should remain peaceful and urged all stakeholders to reject divisive politics and embrace dialogue as the preferred way of resolving differences.
