A student who was sent home from university for engaging in drugs has died in Nyamira County after he was allegedly beaten senseless by his uncles.
Brian Mogaka, who hailed from Nyamira County was a third year student at Chuka University.

His death threw Nyankono villagers into shock and mourning on Wednesday as the sad news spread far and wide.
According to his mother Teresa Kemunto, Mogaka was expelled from university last week.
He was accused of using drugs which had affected his health and performance in academics.
“I was first called by one his colleagues and later by an administrator who only introduced herself as Ruth, informing me that I was needed at the university because of my son’s mental condition,” Kemunto said.
She picked her son from Chuka and later took him to Nyamira County Referral Hospital where he was treated and advised to be attending clinics.
On Monday, Kemunto sort the intervention of Mogaka’s uncles when he allegedly refused to adhere to medical prescriptions.
They later punished Mogaka and ordered him to follow the doctors advice before they left.
The single mother then prepared some porridge and asked her son to do some house chores.
The mother then left to do menial work at the neighbouring tea estates.
Tiny window
On her return, in the evening, Kemunto says that she could not access Mogaka’s hut for it had been locked from inside.
She sought the help on a neighbour’s child who entered the house through a tiny window.
The son’s lifeless body was later discovered in his bed.
Kemunto said a bottle of an expired pesticide was recovered at his bed side.
James Nyachiro, a neighbour who arrived at the compound said the body had bruises.
There was blood around the boy’s knees, according to Nyachiro.
“We couldn’t touch the body as we waited for the police to do their work,” said Nyachiro.
The uncles who allegedly participated in the assault were nowhere to be seen on Wednesday.
The body has since been transferred to Nyamira County Hospital Referral mortuary and police have commenced investigations.
