A man, 20, is in trouble with the law after he allegedly killed his father in Nyamira County.

Frankline Ouru is currently in the custody of the police, who said that the suspect was set to appear in court today, Monday.

Police in Nyamira North said Ouru attacked his father with an axe and set him on fire.

The incident happened in Orwaki village, North Mugirango Constituency.

According to Ouru’s mother, Hellen Kemuma, the suspect had a verbal altercation with his father, 62-year-old Julius Ouru.

The quarrel took a violent turn when Ouru allegedly attacked the father and killed him.

The young man is said to have forced his mother and siblings out of their home before carrying out the fatal attack.

Family members and neighbors described Ouru as a violent individual.

In February, he was accused of assaulting and injuring the family’s firstborn son, Douglas Ouru.

The family says it now lives in fear due to his continued threats and violent behavior.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Ibara Hospital mortuary in Kebirigo area, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the suspect will be presented in court as police continue with investigations.
