The Kenya Junior Baseball5 team has stepped up its preparations ahead of the East African Regional Baseball5 Championship, which kicks off tomorrow in Kampala, Uganda.
The Kenyan contingent arrived in the Ugandan capital on Wednesday night in high spirits and determined to reclaim the regional title they narrowly lost to hosts Uganda last year.

The tournament will bring together four nations—Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and South Sudan—in a battle for regional supremacy and qualification to the Africa Super 8 Championships later this year.
Kenya has travelled with a balanced squad of 10 players, comprising five boys and five girls, in line with the mixed-gender format of Baseball5.
Beyond the race for the regional crown, the championship forms a key part of Kenya’s preparations for the Youth Olympic Games, where Baseball5 is set to make its much-anticipated Olympic debut.
The competition will provide the young Kenyan players with valuable match experience against some of East Africa’s top emerging talent as they continue their journey towards the global stage.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, members of the squad expressed confidence in their preparations and belief in their ability to deliver strong performances in Kampala.
The stakes are high, with the top two teams earning qualification to the Africa Super 8 Championships, a crucial pathway towards continental success.
Kenya will begin its campaign against Tanzania tomorrow afternoon, with the youngsters eager to make an early statement as they pursue both regional glory and momentum ahead of their long-term Youth Olympics ambitions.
