Mobility Company, Bolt has denied circulating claims that the company is shutting down operations in Kenya, calling the reports “false and misleading.”
In a statement released by the ride-hailing firm, Bolt clarified that a document alleging its exit from the Kenyan market was fabricated and did not originate from the company or any of its authorized representatives.

“The document being shared is fake. It did not come from Bolt, nor from any of our official channels,” said Dimmy Kanyankole, Senior General Manager for East Africa.
The company reassured its driver-partners and customers that it remains fully operational and committed to serving the Kenyan market.
“We continue to operate across Kenya and remain dedicated to providing reliable services to our stakeholders,” Kanyankole emphasized.
Bolt further noted that it is investigating the source of the misinformation and cautioned against amplifying unverified claims.
“We urge the public and our partners to rely only on verified Bolt channels for accurate updates,” the statement read.
Following the news that turned out to be fake, there were hundreds of reactions online, with some drivers reportedly celebrating the company’s exit from Kenya.
However, the company reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability, underscoring that it will continue to support the thousands of drivers and riders who depend on its platform daily.
