The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has elected new grassroots leaders in Kitutu Chache South Constituency, Kisii County, with the newly elected officials calling for unity and increased participation in party activities.

Dr Felix Atisa, elected as a delegate representing Nyakoe Ward, welcomed the elections, saying they had given members an opportunity to choose their representatives and brought leadership closer to residents in rural areas.

Atisa said President William Ruto had previously appointed him youth leader, adding that the latest elections had created an opportunity for other members to take up leadership roles.

“I am happy because it has been a long time since we were elected to participate in these delegates. President Ruto gave us the position of youth leader, and now we have different leaders who have been elected from the rural areas,” he said.

He said members in Kitutu Chache South had resolved to remain united and embrace democratic participation within the party.

“Kitutu Chache South, we have decided to speak with one voice and be democratic and united. Those who have not joined us should come and register,” Atisa said.

Geoffrey Tinega Isaboke was elected constituency secretary, while Isabela Ndemo was elected to represent women from Kitutu Central Ward.

UDA county administrator Caleb Ondieki attended the meeting to guide the newly elected officials on their responsibilities.

Ondieki said the gathering was the first delegates’ meeting held in Kisii County since the completion of the party elections.

“This is the first delegates’ meeting in the county since we completed the elections, and Kitutu Chache South is a UDA constituency. I came to give them guidance,” he said.

The meeting brought together party members as UDA seeks to strengthen its grassroots structures and encourage wider participation in its activities.
